Heat Mats

Very affordable heat mats in a large range of sizes for your reptiles.

Heat Mats are the most common method used for heating a reptile's vivarium.

To install the heat mat underneath the vivarium please note that at least 5mm air gap should be allowed between the heat mat and the underside of the vivarium. This is to prevent the heat building up between the wood of the vivarium and the surface it is resting on.

If you wish to mount the heat mat on the wall, as is appropriate for many arboreal species of reptile but also ground dwelling species, be sure that the heat mat is secured in such a way that your reptile can not climb behind it. Also, it would be wise not to use adhesives like cellotape, especially in humid vivariums, as it can come loose and your reptile may get stuck to it instead! We would recommend using either silicone adhesive or double sided tape (leaving no gaps) to securely attach the heat mat.

Mounting the heat mat under the substrate within the vivarium is only suitable in dry vivariums as the heat mats are splash proof but not fully water proof. Also, do not keep the water bowl near the warm side of the vivarium. Use only a thin layer of substrate to prevent excessive heat build up.

In all cases a thermostat is essential to regulate the heat mat's output.
